Tihar is the second biggest festival after dashain. This festival is also knowm as Deepawali. Tihar is celebrated for five days. It is the festival of light that brings the worship of Lamxi,the goddess of wealth along with the worship of dog,crow,cow respectively. On the last day , brothers are greeted and blessed by the sisters.

 Kaag tihar: Early in the morning of the first day of tihar family prepares a good meal.On this day crows are worshiped and we give some food.My mother wake up early in the morning and worship crow.

 Kukur tihar: On the second day of tihar kukur are treated with flower garland around their neck,red tika on their forehead,and are offered great meals. On this day my mom,sister and  me worship the dog and gave some food.

 Gai tihar and Lamxi puja: On this day i went to temple with my mother to worship cow.One of the most important day of the festival is Lamxi puja on which day the goddess of wealth(Lamxi) is worshiped in every household in the entire Nepali kingdom by means of puja, decoration,candle light and oil lamps. A group of boys and girls get together and sing deusi bhailo door to door, giving blessing to the family in return of money or homemade treats.

 Govardhan Puja: Fourth day is Govardhan Puja,the worship of ox . In our neighborhood there were no any ox so we didn't worship ox. 

 Bhai tika : On this day sister put tika on foreheads of brothers for there long life, and thank them for the protection they give.When the sister give the tika, the brothers give money or gifts in return.A special garland is made for brothers out of a flowers.  We made garland for our brother. Me and my sister put a seven colours tika on brother forehead. He put me tika and gave a some gift.

Janai Purnima

Janai Purnima Those who celebrate it as Janai Purnima in the hilly regions of Nepal, it is taken as a day when the men from the Brahmin community undertake the annual changing of their holy thread that marks their coming of age ceremony. Early morning, they take a bath, visit nearby temple and from the hands of a Pundit, they change the holy thread or Janai. Besides, it is also the day when pundits tie ‘Raksha Bandhan Doro’ in the hands of the Brahmin and Chhetri community. The doro or the thread is symbolic of the well wishes of the loved ones forsafety and happiness.
